Description
The Autobianchi Bianchina Cabriolet was a stylish and playful open-top variant of the Bianchina microcar series, based on the Fiat 500 platform. Produced during the early 1960s, it offered a chic, compact motoring experience that appealed particularly to young drivers and urban dwellers looking for something fun yet practical.
Unlike the earlier Transformabile, which featured a partial folding roof with fixed side frames, the Cabriolet had a more traditional convertible design with a fully retractable fabric top and a cleaner, sportier silhouette. Its two-seat configuration emphasized leisure over utility, with a slightly lower roofline and sleeker bodywork that set it apart from the rest of the Bianchina lineup.
The car retained the Fiat 500’s rear-mounted 499 cc two-cylinder engine, delivering modest horsepower—typically around 17–21 hp depending on the version—but it was enough to keep things lively at city speeds. The lightweight construction and small dimensions made it agile and easy to park, while also keeping fuel consumption impressively low.
Finished with charming chrome details, cheerful colors, and a minimal yet elegant interior, the Bianchina Cabriolet perfectly captured the carefree spirit of 1960s Italian motoring. It’s now a sought-after classic, prized for its character, rarity, and quintessentially Italian flair.
