Description
The Alpine Renault A310 V6 S was an upgraded version of the A310 V6, introduced in the early 1980s to refine performance, handling, and aesthetics. Building upon the foundation of the standard A310 V6, this model featured mechanical improvements and a more aggressive design to enhance its appeal as a high-performance grand tourer.
Powered by the 2.7-liter PRV V6 engine, the A310 V6 S produced around 150 to 193 horsepower, depending on the specification. The five-speed manual gearbox delivered smooth power delivery, enabling a top speed of approximately 225 km/h. The lightweight fiberglass body, combined with the rear-engine layout, provided excellent weight distribution and dynamic handling characteristics.
The most noticeable changes in the V6 S were its widened wheel arches, accommodating larger wheels and tires for improved grip. The car also received a front spoiler, side skirts, and a rear spoiler, all contributing to enhanced aerodynamics and stability at high speeds. The suspension was stiffened and refined for better handling, while ventilated disc brakes on all four wheels ensured strong braking performance.
Inside, the cabin was designed for both comfort and sportiness, featuring well-bolstered seats, an updated dashboard, and a driver-focused layout. The A310 V6 S offered a more refined driving experience, making it suitable for both spirited driving and long-distance touring.
The Alpine Renault A310 V6 S gained recognition for its blend of aggressive styling, lightweight design, and engaging performance. It remains a sought-after classic, representing a key step in Alpine’s evolution before the introduction of the GTA and A610 models.
