The Austin A105 Westminster was introduced in 1956 as an upscale version of the A95 Westminster, offering more power, additional luxury features, and a slightly sportier character. It was designed for customers who wanted a refined yet capable saloon with an emphasis on comfort and performance.

Under the bonnet, the A105 was equipped with a more powerful 2.6-liter inline-six engine, producing around 102 horsepower. This increase in power allowed for improved acceleration and a higher top speed compared to the A95. A four-speed manual transmission was standard, with the option of an overdrive unit or a Borg-Warner automatic transmission for enhanced driving convenience.

The exterior styling closely resembled the A95, but the A105 was often distinguished by additional chrome trim and a more upmarket presence. The car retained the same solid and well-proportioned body, with a wide front grille, integrated headlights, and a gently sloping rear. Inside, the cabin was appointed with high-quality materials, including wood trim and plush seating, giving it a more luxurious feel.

A notable variant was the A105 Vanden Plas, which featured a more refined interior with premium leather upholstery, walnut dashboard trim, and improved soundproofing. This version catered to buyers who desired a high-end British saloon without stepping into the more expensive luxury market.

Production of the A105 lasted until 1959, when it was replaced by the A99 Westminster, which featured a larger engine and more modern styling. Today, the A105 Westminster is a rare and desirable classic, appreciated for its balance of British elegance, comfort, and strong performance.
