Description
The Austin A110 Sheerline was a luxury saloon produced by Austin from 1947 to 1954, designed to compete with high-end British marques such as Daimler and Rolls-Royce. It was a large, imposing vehicle with a stately presence, reflecting post-war British luxury at its finest.
Powered by a 3.5-liter (3460 cc) inline-six engine, the A110 Sheerline produced around 110 horsepower, providing smooth and refined performance. The engine was paired with a four-speed manual gearbox, delivering power to the rear wheels. Despite its size, the car was engineered for a comfortable and stable ride, thanks to its independent front suspension and leaf-sprung rear axle.
The Sheerline’s styling was characterized by a traditional upright grille, sweeping fenders, and a long, elegant body. It featured chrome accents, large headlamps, and a spacious, well-appointed interior. The cabin was finished with high-quality materials, including leather upholstery and wood veneer trim, offering a luxurious experience for both drivers and passengers.
Austin also produced a limousine variant, the A125 Sheerline, which was often used for official and ceremonial purposes. The A110 was positioned below the limousine in the range but still maintained a sense of grandeur and exclusivity.
Production of the A110 Sheerline ended in the early 1950s, making way for more modern luxury models. Today, it remains a rare and cherished classic, admired for its craftsmanship, elegance, and representation of post-war British automotive luxury.
