Description
The Austin A125 Sheerline Limousine was the extended-wheelbase version of the A125 Sheerline, designed for luxury transport and chauffeur-driven service. Produced between 1947 and 1954, it was Austin’s flagship model, offering an elegant and imposing presence on the road. With its long, stately body and refined craftsmanship, the limousine variant was often used for formal occasions, including official government duties, weddings, and special events.
Powered by a 4.0-liter inline-six engine delivering around 125 horsepower, the A125 Sheerline Limousine provided smooth and effortless performance. It featured a four-speed manual gearbox with synchromesh on the upper gears, ensuring a refined driving experience. The extended wheelbase allowed for an exceptionally spacious rear passenger compartment, where luxury appointments such as fine leather upholstery, polished wood trim, and thick carpeting created a comfortable and prestigious atmosphere.
Distinctive design elements included a large chrome grille, sweeping front fenders, and an upright, commanding stance that emphasized its presence on the road. The limousine variant often included additional features such as a division window between the chauffeur and rear passengers, fold-out jump seats, and enhanced soundproofing for added comfort.
The Austin A125 Sheerline Limousine remained in production until 1954, when it was succeeded by the Austin A135 Princess. Today, surviving examples are cherished by collectors for their classic British elegance and historical significance.
