Description
The Austin A95 Westminster was introduced in 1956 as an evolution of the A90 Westminster, offering a more powerful engine, updated styling, and improved comfort. It was positioned as a mid-range executive saloon, appealing to business professionals and families who wanted a blend of performance and practicality.
Powered by a 2.6-liter inline-six engine producing 92 horsepower, the A95 Westminster delivered a smooth and refined driving experience. It was equipped with a four-speed manual gearbox as standard, with an optional overdrive or automatic transmission for added convenience. The car featured independent front suspension and drum brakes, providing stability and comfort on long journeys.
The design was more modern than its predecessor, featuring a wider grille, integrated headlamps, and a gently sloping rear end. Chrome accents and stylish body lines gave the A95 a distinguished appearance, while the spacious interior was fitted with quality materials, a functional dashboard layout, and ample legroom for passengers. The boot was also generously sized, making the A95 practical for family use and long-distance travel.
Available in both saloon and estate versions, the A95 Westminster was well-regarded for its durability and reliability. It was eventually replaced by the A99 Westminster in 1959, which featured a larger engine and further refinements. Today, the A95 Westminster remains a cherished classic, admired for its British charm, smooth performance, and timeless styling.
