Description
The Bentley T Coupé Pininfarina is an exceptionally rare and unique creation that blends British luxury with Italian design flair. Based on the Bentley T-series platform, this one-off or extremely limited production model was designed and built by the renowned Italian coachbuilder Pininfarina. The T-series itself was Bentley’s counterpart to the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, introduced in 1965 and characterized by its unitary construction, independent suspension, and a smooth V8 engine.
Pininfarina’s interpretation of the T-series transformed the traditionally conservative Bentley saloon into a more dynamic and elegant coupé. The bodywork featured clean, sculpted lines with a more angular and contemporary look compared to the standard Bentley T saloon. The front end typically retained the iconic Bentley grille but was more sharply defined, and the rear often showcased a more fastback-style or crisply styled coupé tail, giving the car a distinct sporting profile.
Inside, the Bentley T Coupé Pininfarina maintained the marque’s tradition of opulent craftsmanship, with hand-finished wood veneers, plush leather upholstery, and refined detailing throughout. Under the hood, it retained the smooth and powerful 6.2-litre (and later 6.75-litre) V8 engine, providing a refined yet capable performance befitting a luxury grand tourer.
Given its coachbuilt nature, the Bentley T Coupé by Pininfarina was produced in extremely limited numbers—possibly as a one-off commission or in a very short run—making it one of the rarest post-war Bentleys. It remains a testament to the bespoke possibilities of the era, where leading European coachbuilders collaborated with top luxury marques to create automobiles that were as unique as their owners.
