Description

The Gilbern GT 1800 was a later version of the original GT 1600, produced by Gilbern between 1963 and 1967. This model was an evolution of the earlier design, featuring several upgrades to its performance and overall construction. It retained the fiberglass body and tubular steel chassis that characterized Gilbern cars, keeping it lightweight and agile.

The GT 1800 was powered by a larger 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine sourced from the MGB, producing around 95 horsepower. This engine provided a notable boost in power compared to the GT 1600, improving its top speed and acceleration. Like its predecessor, the GT 1800 had independent front suspension, disc brakes, and rear leaf-spring suspension, offering solid handling for a car of its era.

Though only a few hundred units were produced, the GT 1800 earned a reputation for being a stylish and practical British sports car. Its combination of lightweight construction and spirited performance made it popular with car enthusiasts, and it remains a collectible vehicle today.
