Description
The Kaiser Custom Six K-101 was a premium full-size sedan produced by Kaiser Motors in the late 1940s. Released alongside the Kaiser Special, the Custom Six K-101 was positioned as a more upscale variant, offering additional comfort and style features for discerning post-war consumers. The K-101 shared much of its design with the K-100 but included more refined touches to appeal to a luxury-oriented market segment.
Under the hood, the Custom Six K-101 was equipped with the same 3.7-liter inline-six engine, generating around 100 horsepower. Paired with a 3-speed manual transmission, the K-101 provided reliable and smooth performance, suitable for both city driving and longer trips. Although its performance was modest by modern standards, the K-101’s engine and drivetrain were known for their durability and efficiency.
The Kaiser Custom Six K-101 distinguished itself with upgraded interior materials, extra chrome detailing, and more advanced features for the time. It offered a more spacious and comfortable cabin, with plush seating, premium upholstery, and finer detailing throughout. The exterior design followed the streamlined aesthetic of the Kaiser lineup, with sleek curves, a prominent grille, and a sophisticated profile that set it apart from other mid-century sedans.
Though Kaiser Motors struggled to compete with larger manufacturers, the Custom Six K-101 attracted a loyal customer base and remains appreciated by classic car enthusiasts today for its unique design, quality build, and role in post-war American automotive history.
